The year 2020 has seen an astounding number of Hollywood stars listing their houses on the market. And hey, we’re not complaining since it only makes for good gossip, right?
Anyhoo, this time around, the beautiful Meg Ryan, star of “You’ve Got Mail” and “When Harry Met Sally,” is the latest celeb to join the property sale fest. Well, not exactly since she’s a former owner of the house and the property’s current owners have sold it. But then, you really know a property by the hands through which it has passed.
So, this property that we’re talking about, the San Francisco house, was once under the possession of Meg and her ex-husband Dennis Quaid, and recently it sold for $17.3 million. Let’s find out more, shall we?
A look at the property
San Francisco is full of luxurious houses and mansions, but this particular property is a tad different. In addition to being the former home of the ever-smiling Meg, the features and history of the house itself make it somewhat of an antique.
Located on a large area of 7000 square feet, the house includes five bedrooms and seven bathrooms as main facilities, in addition to two family rooms, a living room, and a dining room. It looks very spacious from the inside and huge from the outside. The highlight in the interior design is the bedroom, which overlooks the stunning scenery of San Francisco Bay.

Built several years ago in Old Manhattan, this 130-year-old Queen Anne Victorian-styled house was established overlooking two of San Francisco’s most luxurious neighborhoods – Pacific and Presidio Heights. Needless to say, a house of such an age must have seen dozens of developments and additions over the years, but the good news is that we can tell you about the latest.
It was a touch of the previous owner of the house who hired Tim Murphy Design Associates to update it to match the latest fashion trends as per 2014. Although the change this time was comprehensive, the basic character of the house has not changed till date.
An example is the preservation of the thick crown molding and decorative millwork located at the entrance to the house, according to Dwell. It wasn’t limited to that, the genius designer Nicole Hollis was hired to add more changes and decor to the home to bring it closer to its ideal appearance.

As for Meg’s history with the house, it hasn’t been very long, spanning only a year; surprise, right? But that was a result of her strained relationship with her ex-husband, Dennis Quaid. They bought the house in 1990 at the height of Meg’s glory in Hollywood and then sold it in 1991. Soon afterwards, they’d announced their separation and got divorced.
Currently, the ancient house is owned by a young couple and their two little angels.
