Ooof. There are few things worse in ice hockey than having a flying puck hit you in the face or any exposed part of your body actually. It is for this reason the athletes were helmets and so much protective gear. A puck, when hit, can fly as fast as 80 to 100 miles per hour, and if you’re familiar with speed velocity, you know that’s drastic.
Bar a miracle or a sort of superhuman reflex; there’s almost no way this guy would have avoided that puck. We can only hope he’s getting paid enough or at least has good health insurance to afford the face surgery he might need afterward.
