While many celebrity children embrace fame, Angelina Jolie’s daughter Shiloh prefers a quieter existence. Unlike her famous parents, she actively avoids the spotlight.
Jolie recently shared that none of her six children have shown interest in acting, but Shiloh, in particular, dislikes the attention that comes with celebrity life.
Shiloh’s Strong Desire for Privacy
During a panel at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, Jolie opened up about her children’s feelings toward fame. She explained that her 18-year-old daughter, Shiloh, prefers to stay out of the public eye.
“They really don’t like any of the celebrity part of it, especially Shiloh hates it,” she stated. “It’s not a normal thing. It’s a silly thing, really.”
Best known for her role in “Maleficent,” Jolie shares six children with her ex-husband Brad Pitt. Their children include Maddox, 23, Pax, 20, Zahara, 19, Shiloh, 18, and 16-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne.

Avoiding the Hollywood Spotlight
Despite growing up in the public eye, Jolie’s children have chosen to keep their lives private. The actress made it clear that their aversion to fame was not something she imposed on them. She actually encouraged them to explore filmmaking because of the creativity and artistic expression it offers.
“That’s not my doing,” she explained. “I always wanted them to be around film because it’s such a wonderful family, to be creative, to be an artist. They’re not interested.”
While none of them dream of acting, they do enjoy creative outlets. Jolie mentioned that some of her children love dancing, painting, and theater, but none feel drawn to the screen. “Some of them dance, some of them paint, some of them love theater, but none of them are dying to be on screen,” she said.
Working Behind the Scenes in Hollywood
Even though they prefer to stay out of the public eye, Jolie’s children have been involved in filmmaking behind the scenes. Her eldest sons, Maddox and Pax, worked as assistant directors on the set of “Maria,” a film starring their mother. Pax also contributed additional photography for the project.
Vivienne, one of the younger siblings, collaborated with Jolie on the Broadway production of “The Outsiders.” Jolie believes in teaching her children the value of hard work by getting them involved in real-world projects.

“It’s good to start them in working,” she stated. “[You’ve] got to run around and do anything for everybody. And so they’ve been doing that in a few films.”
A Consistent Approach to Privacy
Jolie has consistently spoken about her children’s preference for staying out of the spotlight. In October 2024, she described them as “especially shy” and “very private people.” She reinforced this point in a November interview on “Good Morning America,” where she singled out Shiloh as the most reserved among them.
Despite having famous parents, Shiloh and her siblings prioritize personal space over media attention. Their decision reflects their individuality and suggests that growing up in Hollywood does not necessarily mean embracing celebrity culture.
Shiloh’s Unique Path
Shiloh has always been a topic of interest for fans, but she rarely engages with the media. Unlike some celebrity children who step into the entertainment industry, she remains focused on her personal interests.
While her siblings explore creative passions, Shiloh has often been spotted enjoying casual, everyday activities away from the spotlight. She appears to prefer a life of normalcy, steering clear of Hollywood’s glitz and glamour.
Jolie’s Parenting Philosophy

Jolie has always emphasized the importance of allowing her children to shape their own futures. She encourages them to explore different passions but never pressures them into following in her footsteps.
“My job as a parent is to help them find their own paths,” she once shared. “They don’t have to be like me, and I wouldn’t want them to be.”
By giving them the freedom to make their own choices, Jolie ensures that her children grow up with a sense of independence. Whether they choose a career in film or a completely different field, she supports their decisions wholeheartedly.
Living Life on Their Terms
While Hollywood is full of celebrity children who follow their parents into the entertainment industry, Jolie’s children have chosen a different path. Their reluctance to embrace fame suggests they value privacy and authenticity over public recognition.
With a strong family bond and a desire to live life on their own terms, Shiloh and her siblings set an example for others who may feel pressured by public expectations. Jolie continues to respect their choices, proving that personal boundaries remain important even in the world of fame.
