Keanu Reeves is one of the most unproblematic and likable Hollywood actors around. No wonder the veteran actor has managed to maintain a consistent set of supportive fans throughout his 35-year career.
And now that Reeves has recently been announced as the new face of the luxury brand, Yves Saint Laurent, his fans can’t help but express their excitement for their idol.
New Face of YSL
In a recent three-part Instagram post, the French brand Yves Saint Laurent unveiled portraits of the 54-year-old actor garnering more than 100,000 likes per picture. The teaser pictures were all shot in black and white by British photographer David Sims.
The shoot is seemingly inspired by the actor’s role in the John Wick film series with Reeves sporting a full beard and chin-length black hair.
In one of the shots, he’s seen wearing a pinstriped suit with his eyes mysteriously hidden behind a pair of aviator sunglasses and his hair tied in a loose ponytail. Another one features the The Matrix actor posing with his eyes closed and wearing a leather jacket with his hair tucked behind his ear.
Reeves is set to be the face for the brand’s Fall-Winter 2019 collection. He follows rapper Travis Scott, who is currently the main endorser for Yves Saint Laurent’s Spring 2019 Men’s Collection.

Since the pictures’ first posting a week ago, all three photos have garnered thousands of excited comments from Reeves’ fans from all over the world. Most of the commenters praised the French designer brand for choosing their brand new endorser well. One of them even declared the announcement to be ‘the best thing to happen in fashion’.
Meanwhile, there are also plenty of netizens who complimented the concept and styling for the shoot calling the photos ‘intense’ and ‘amazing’. But the most common sentiment remains to be the praises for the actor’s famed public persona as the ultimate good guy. Many of them recalled Reeves’ numerous acts of goodwill.
It can be remembered that the actor set up a cancer charity and chose not to attach his name to it some years ago. He’s also known for sacrificing his shares for the profits of the Matrix film sequels to give the effects team more budget to better create the films.
What more, the actor’s random acts of kindness have often gone viral on social media. Back in 2011, he was filmed giving away his subway seat to a woman. And just this year, he was seen assisting plane passengers after their flight had to make an emergency landing.
John Wick-Inspired?
It seems like the Yves Saint Laurent team made the right choice with Reeves given the popularity of the John Wick neo-noir films. What more, their John Wick-inspired shoot just came in time for the upcoming May release of the film franchise’s third installment, John Wick Chapter 3.
